WHAT ARE TRYOUTS?
Tryouts are used to select players for our club volleyball teams. During tryouts coaches run drills that allow them to observe athletes in competitive scenarios. Coaches use the performance, as well as the player's age, grade, competitiveness, coach-ability, teamwork and communication skills to place athletes on the team. Each team's roster is built based on the positions needed and the skill required to compete on that level of team.
WHICH AGE GROUP SHOULD MY CHILD TRY OUT FOR?
Players are required to compete in the age group that their date of birth falls according to the USA Volleyball calendar.
17s: DOB on or between July 1, 2008-June 30, 2009
16s: DOB on or between July 1, 2009-June 30, 2010
15s: DOB on or between July 1, 2010-June 30, 2011
14s: DOB on or between July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012
13s: DOB on or between July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013
12s: DOB on or after July 1, 2013
DO ALL ATHLETES GET OFFERED A SPOT ON A TEAM?
No, unfortunately we cannot accept every athlete that tries out, therefore, some athletes do not make a team. We will waitlist any athletes who are interested in being selected in the event of a spot becoming available.
WHEN WILL WE KNOW IF MY CHILD MADE THE TEAM?
We will extend team offers at the conclusion of the regular tryout sessions (after last tryout date). Please remember that not all athletes will make a club team. If you are offered a spot on a team we will require your immediate answer and payment deposit of $550 by August 1st. Total season costs = $1550. More payment info in tryout packet.
WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED IN MY CLUB FEES?
All team fees include the cost of practices, tournament entries, uniform packages, equipment, and coach salary.
WILL WE HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING EXTRA?
All athletes are required to hold a membership with USA Volleyball and our governing Region. These memberships are released annually in the beginning of September and are paid directly to USAV and the Lone Star Region. The fee is $50. Each team is required to have certified scorekeepers and referees. Each certification is $25 and good for two consecutive seasons. Every player will be required to attend these classes.
